"Advisor Update #17: Building a Hybrid Uber + FedEx Delivery Service at eMed"

Michael Pichardo September 6, 2023 Updated May 26, 2026

On my 25th birthday, here's what I'm working on — a delivery service using Uber and FedEx APIs to fix blood sample collection logistics for Tasso Inc.

Happy September, today I turn 25. I'm excited to share what I've been working on since our last update.

At my day job:

At my employer, eMed.com, I've been laser-focused on solving a problem that holds significant value for both eMed and our partner, Tasso Inc. Patients use the Tasso device to collect blood samples but often fail to deliver these samples to their nearest FedEx location on time. Given the busy schedules of patients and the centralized lab's location, samples from across the U.S. must arrive within 48 hours for analysis. If they don't, it results in waste.

To solve for this, I'm in the process of developing a delivery service that leverages both Uber's and FedEx's infrastructure and APIs. I'm still working on the unit economics; specifically, whether the customer should absorb the $8 to $12 Uber courier costs while eMed covers the $15 for FedEx Express Parcel. I'll provide more details in a future update.

Other news:

  • I finished reading "$100m Offers" by Alex Hormozi
  • I developed a Python script to analyze gender from CSV columns—a metric usually overlooked but crucial for response rates in outreach campaigns.
  • I've successfully executed a LinkedIn outreach campaign that led to a local event for WashU alumni.

Upcoming Events:

I'm headed to San Francisco from October 6-14 for an AI Summit. If you recommend I meet with any peeps while I'm there, let me know.

How you can help:

I'd love to connect with any tech insiders in San Francisco, especially those focused on AI.

Thank you for your continued support, and please reply to this email if you have any exciting updates or if you have a business problem that you need help taking a stab at.
